Hi

I am working on c6713 dsk and use flashburn 2.8/(also use v3 trial version) for hex file burn.
During conversion from .out to hex code by hex6x.exe through command prompt
it show some warning message and hex is not working after flash burn.
but .out file is working successfully through ccs3.3 tool.
below for warning messages -

--------------------------------------------------
Translating rtdx_matlabFFT.out to ASCII-Hex format...
"rtdx_matlabFFT.out" ==> .text
>> WARNING: section '.text' at 03000h falls in unconfigured memory (skipped)
"rtdx_matlabFFT.out" ==> .cinit
>> WARNING: section '.cinit' at 0ea28h falls in unconfigured memory (skipped)
"rtdx_matlabFFT.out" ==> .const
>> WARNING: section '.const' at 0f2b4h falls in unconfigured memory (skipped)
"rtdx_matlabFFT.out" ==> .switch
>> WARNING: section '.switch' at 0f568h falls in unconfigured memory (skipped)
and my link.cmd is --

MEMORY
{
vecs: o = 00000000h l = 00000200h
boot: o = 00000200h l = 00000200h
IRAM: o = 00000400h l = 0000FA00h
CE0: o = 80000000h l = 01000000h
}

SECTIONS
{
"vectors" > vecs
"bootload" > boot
.cinit > IRAM
.text > IRAM
.stack > IRAM
.bss > IRAM
.const > IRAM
.data > IRAM
.far > IRAM
.switch > IRAM
.sysmem > IRAM
.tables > IRAM
.cio > IRAM
}

and Flash_hex.cmd is

BlinkDSK6713.out /* Input File: COFF file format (.out) */
-a /* Output Format: ASCII Hex format (.hex) */
-image /* Select image mode */
-memwidth 8 /* Set memory width */
-o BlinkDSK6713.hex /* Output File: ASCII Hex file (.hex) */

ROMS
{
FLASH: org = 000h, len = 0x3000, romwidth = 8
}

---------------------------------------

kindly help me with proper cause and solution.

Regards

Gopal

I found the example directory in My Documents.
However I still can't connect through flashburn (I tried the ccs and the example-dsk ccxml file).

Ok. Then why is it failing?
I can connect through the ccs but not with flashburn?
I'm receiving an exception and the FBTC is not available.
I don't see any example folder in flashburn or ti directories.

Yes, FlashBurn v4.6 supports the C55x, including the C5509A. There is an example for the C5509A DSK in the examples\ directory.

Thank you for your note. We have corrected the issue. Please try downloading the FlashBurn free DSK version again.

I'm trying to download the Trial version of FlashBurn 4.6, but the link seems to be broken, it takes you to:
http://www.softwaredesignsolutions.com/prods/setup_FlashBurn_DSK_v460_rev771.exe
but a page displaying "No results found" is shown.

Thanks

Tips for dealing with SDRAM/CE0 on DSK6713

If your program and data fit into IRAM (internal RAM) then no need to read further. Mine did not and SDRAM is MUCH slower than IRAM. This is not profound but posted in an attempt to save you some time.

You can put non time critical code, constants, and RAM into SDRAM by declaring sections:
#pragma SET_CODE_SECTION( ".text:slow" )

Then in the linker command file add lines like:
.text:slow : {} > FLASH run = CE0b, LOAD_START(FLASH_SLO_TEXT_START), RUN_START(RAM_SLO_TEXT_START), SIZE(SLO_TEXT_SIZE)

With code in SDRAM, it can't be loaded by the boot since SDRAM is not yet alive. So I created a FinishBoot() routine in assy (probably could have been done in C) that copies the Flash slow code to it's SDRAM location. Call it after SDRAM is alive and don't put any code before that call into SDRAM. It's pretty simple to copy the existing boot code. At the end of the FinishBoot() routine, to get back to the return address put a:
nop 5
B.S2 B3 ; return
nop 5

For FlashBurn, the hex command file did not burn enough of the Flash so I had to modify the length parameter.

Many thanks to Ed for all he's done to create and support FlashBurn(). His example is perfect to leverage from.

Raj, When you selected the Code Composer in the Flashburn CCS Selector, was the choice already provided, or did you need to use the 'Browse' button? Thanks. Ed

Hi Ed, Sorry for the long awaited response. I have been working on other aspects of the project.
I have tried opening CCS and connecting my target. Even tried running the emulation. Still no luck with opening the flashburn program
Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks

FlashBurn 4.6 for NAND Flash

Hello,

That is correct. The trial version handles only the NOR and I2C flash on that board. To use the NAND flash, the Porting Kit would be needed, and a porting effort on your part to handle the NAND flash.

Hello,
Thanks again for your respond ,
so that the trial version can not be used to access or try the NAND flash?
Best Regards..

Hello,

Thank you for the clarification. Yes, the examples provided for the C6424 EVM are for the Spansion NOR flash and the I2C flash. There is no example provided for the NAND flash on the C6424. You could use the FlashBurn Porting Kit to modify the erasing and programming support for the NAND flash. Please contact support@softwaredesignsolutions.com and we can send you the a copy Programmers Reference guide that you can see what is involved in the porting process.
